St. Francis of Assisi School having open house, ice cream social Sunday
St. Francis School in St. Albans is inviting area residents to its open house and ice cream social this Sunday, Aug. 13.
The event will run from noon to 2 p.m. at the school, 525 Holley St. The school’s PTO is hosting the ice cream social.
For 70 years, St. Francis School has provided children with a high-quality, academic program in a safe, Christian environment. Students in grades kindergarten through five receive instruction in the core subjects, as well as Spanish, technology, art, physical education, music and character education.
Additionally, St. Francis School has a Specialized Learning Program for children with autism and learning disabilities. The teacher, Maria Forrester, is fully certified in special education and trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction.
Extracurricular options include a performing children’s choir, soccer and basketball teams, and for students in upper grades, a robotics and coding club.
For preschoolers, St. Francis School offers two Kanawha County Collaborative 4-year-old preschool classes, as well as a private-pay Traditional Preschool class taught by Libby Shrewsbury.
All preschool and before- and after-school care programs are licensed under the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and meet all health and safety standards. The school also participates in CONNECT and LINK.
