Events announced for Hurricane July 4 celebration

The City of Hurricane has released details about its annual Independence Day celebration for 2017.

The Fourth of July activities will be held this year at Hurricane City Park, preceded by a parade along Main Street in Hurricane. The parade will start at First Baptist Church and continue to Hurricane Middle School.

The Hurricane Civic Chorus will perform before the parade begins.

At 5 p.m. on the Fourth, inflatables, games, food, music and other festivities will get underway at City Park. Zack Shelton and 64 to Grayson will perform live at the park, on the Main Stage, beginning at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the Sheetz Hot Dog Eating Contest will commence beside the Main Stage. Cody Wickline will perform at 8 p.m. on the Main Stage. The celebration will wrap up with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.

Also, the Hurricane Fourth of July Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, at Buffalo High School.
