First Responders Appreciation Day scheduled in Hurricane
In honor of National Police Week May 15-21, Financial Resources & Consulting and Henderson Insurance will host a First Responders Appreciation Day on Friday, May 19.
Free lunches will be provided to all emergency personnel showing an ID badge or in uniform, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the gazebo on Main Street in Hurricane. In the event of inclement weather, lunches will be served in the Hurricane fire station.
L&R BBQ/Custom Catering will cater the lunches of a pork barbecue sandwich, chips, choice of potato or macaroni salad and a drink.
The general public can purchase lunches for $8 each.
“We have a strong desire to give back to the community, especially to those that are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our safety and well-being. We just want to show a token of appreciation to those that choose to serve and protect. ‘Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends,’” said Whitney P. Stricklin, CFP, owner of Financial Resources & Consulting.
“We encourage everyone to come out and show their support for those that risk their lives daily for us. These responders willingly put themselves in danger every day, it’s the least our community can do to show our gratitude,” Calvin Damron, owner of Henderson Insurance, said.
NewLife 94.5 radio station will be doing a remote broadcast at the event.
Donations for the local emergency personnel will be accepted and divided equally among the police department, fire department and EMS.
